Georgia went to Arkansas, won by four touchdowns, and discovered that Kirby Smart does not accept the scoreboard as a completed homework assignment.<\/p>\n

The Bulldogs finished their SEC opener with 254 rushing yards, 464 total yards and a 45\u201317 victory. Gunner Stockton ran for 97 yards and threw for 147. Georgia led 31\u20133 after three quarters. By most Saturday-afternoon standards, that gets you a comfortable ride home.<\/p>\n

Smart brought a different measuring stick.<\/p>\n

\u201cI'm not measuring our team based on scores. I'm measuring our team based on execution.\u201d<\/p>\n

There is the postgame story in one sentence. Georgia had plenty to celebrate\u2014and its coach had a list.<\/p>\n

Gunner supplied the extra assignment<\/h2>\n

Stockton\u2019s career-long 62-yard run on third-and-two was the afternoon\u2019s clearest reminder that preparing for Georgia means accounting for more than his arm. Before halftime, Frazier had one rushing touchdown and Chauncey Bowens had two, helping build a 21\u20133 lead.<\/p>\n

But the rushing totals do not describe a simple afternoon of called handoffs. Smart explained that some passes became runs, with Stockton responding to the defense. He also credited the blocking on the long scramble and praised Bowens\u2019s work ethic and willingness to seek contact.<\/p>\n

That is an encouraging kind of flexibility. Sometimes the quarterback delivers the package. Sometimes he carries it himself.<\/p>\n

Seventeen yards needs an asterisk\u2014not an excuse<\/h2>\n

Arkansas\u2019s 17 net rushing yards look like the entire defensive argument. Smart declined to let that number do all the talking. He pointed to Arkansas\u2019s passing production and the effect of sacks on college rushing statistics. He wanted the quarterback bothered more often, and he was unhappy with the reserve defenders\u2019 late work.<\/p>\n

The distinction matters. Georgia controlled the game; that does not mean every part of its defense played equally well. Arkansas finished with 283 passing yards and scored both touchdowns in the fourth quarter.<\/p>\n

The next report that matters<\/h2>\n

Frazier and receiver Isiah Canion remain worth watching. Smart\u2019s initial assessment was reassuring\u2014he believed both probably could have played if necessary\u2014but he acknowledged uncertainty and further evaluation. That is encouraging, not a medical all-clear.<\/p>\n

Georgia leaves Fayetteville with evidence that its offense can solve problems in different ways. It also leaves with protection, pass-rush and defensive-depth questions that a comfortable margin cannot answer.<\/p>\n

The Bulldogs brought the lunch pail.<\/p>\n

Kirby checked what was still inside.<\/p>\n
