Good morning, south Georgia, and happy Sunday. Pour another cup of coffee and settle in. Here's what's been going on in the music world this week.<\/p>\n

We'll start with Neil Young, who's still at it. His new album with his band the Chrome Hearts, Second Song, came out September 18 on Reprise Records. It's their second record together. They cut it at Shangri La in Malibu, and Lou Adler produced it. Longtime fans have something else to look forward to this month too: Tonight's the Night, the last album of Neil's so-called 'Ditch Trilogy,' is being reissued in several formats.<\/p>\n

If you're wandering the record store aisles this weekend, there's plenty with a Southern accent. Kenny Chesney has Silver Sands Marina, 11 songs about memory, resilience, and enjoying life. Dylan Gossett's second album, Ramblin', leans on Red Dirt country, Americana, and folk storytelling. Hermanos Guti\u00e9rrez released Los Ojos Del C\u00f3ndor on Dan Auerbach's Easy Eye Sound label. It's their third collaboration with the Black Keys man. South Carolina's own Needtobreathe are reissuing their 2009 breakthrough, The Outsiders, on clear vinyl. It's a record steeped in Southern rock, roots music, and gospel.<\/p>\n

Two more for the rock crowd. Memphis hard rockers Saliva have a new album out, Breaking Through, and it includes a track called 'Longshot' featuring Lynyrd Skynyrd's Johnny Van Zant. And Heart's Ann Wilson has a new nine-song album with her band Tripsitter, Consecrated Ground, which blends heavy rock, psychedelia, and blues. She's also on a North American fall tour that runs into October.<\/p>\n

Now a little history for September 27. Today marks 40 years since Metallica bassist Cliff Burton died in a tour bus crash in Sweden in 1986. On a happier note, it's also the birthday of Randy Bachman, the guitarist behind 'American Woman' and 'Takin' Care of Business.' He was born in Winnipeg in 1943. And we remember Meat Loaf, born on this day in 1947 in Dallas. On this date in 1964, the Beach Boys made their first appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show. And in 2005, Neil Young released Prairie Wind.<\/p>\n

Here's what's new in the radio business. An Audacy study found that the NFL's most devoted fans live in Buffalo, with New Orleans and Cincinnati close behind. It also found that radio reaches those superfans at every step from awareness to loyalty. The industry also reports that U.S. Latin music revenue rose 8.6 percent in the first half of the year to $542.2 million, which extends a 13-year winning streak. A new program is also giving newsrooms checklists and support tools for covering hurricanes and other natural disasters, which is welcome news to any station in storm country.<\/p>\n
