Rubber Soul Gets a Remix, Miranda Goes Disco, and Nita Strauss Rejoins Alice Cooper

Written by on October 7, 2026

Your Pretoria Fields Radio rundown for Wednesday, October 7, 2026: fresh reissues, new country and Americana records, lineup news, and a few rock-history birthdays worth raising a glass to.

Good morning, south Georgia. Here's what's moving in the music world this Wednesday, October 7. Pour another cup of coffee and settle in.

Record shelves got busy last Friday, October 2. The Beatles put out a remixed reissue of Rubber Soul in a 4-CD and 5-LP set with several vinyl variants. Southern boogie fans can pick up Foghat's Road Fever: The Complete Bearsville Recordings 1972-1975, a six-CD box that covers the band's early years. The same day brought a five-CD anniversary edition of Elvis Costello's My Aim Is True, a 50th-anniversary liquid-vinyl pressing of Rush's 2112, and Judas Priest's Sad Wings of Destiny: Original 1976 Masters for its 50th birthday.

Country had a big Friday too. Miranda Lambert released Crisco, a 12-track record she produced with Jesse Frasure. It mixes country with disco, and one track features Chris Stapleton. Lambert says the album has "a lot of joy on it." There's more on the way. Jess Williamson's A Mile South of Heaven arrives October 9, Zach Bryan has an EP due October 16, Brothers Osborne release Watertown on October 23, and Kaitlin Butts closes out the month with Hello, Honky Tonk on October 30. And on Wednesday, October 21, Lainey Wilson, Ella Langley, Vince Gill and others will honor Dolly Parton on the special CMA Presents I Will Always Love You.

Now some lineup news. Nita Strauss is returning to Alice Cooper's band for his Las Vegas shows with illusionist Criss Angel at Planet Hollywood in late November and early December. Cooper says Strauss opened the band's 2026 season in Vegas back in March and will now close it out there. Kelly Hansen, Foreigner's former frontman, has joined the Dead Daisies, taking over from John Corabi. Across the pond, Roger Waters added UK and Ireland dates to his Legacy: A Pink Floyd Show tour.

Two stories for the collectors. A rare 1969 Led Zeppelin "Whole Lotta Love" single, one of just 500 copies, turned up on the BBC's Antiques Roadshow. And Wind of Change, the long-awaited Scorpions biopic, finally has an official trailer and a release date.

From the radio business, the October issue of Radio Ink profiles Wyatt Cox, the only staff member at KELY-AM in rural Nevada. He handles the news, the weather, the farm reports and the ad sales all by himself. That's the kind of hometown radio we believe in here. A new podcast study also found that 42 percent of U.S. podcast listeners value being able to hear radio programs on demand.

Finally, today in rock history. On October 7, 1963, the Beach Boys released Little Deuce Coupe, and the Rolling Stones recorded "I Wanna Be Your Man" in London. On this date in 2000, the original KISS lineup played its last show together, right up the road in North Charleston, South Carolina. And ten years ago today, the Desert Trip festival kicked off in Indio, California.

That's the news. Now back to the music, right here on Pretoria Fields Radio.
